Career

societies

The left full-back moved from AS Cannes to Arsenal in 2003 and made his debut there in October of the same year in a league cup match against Rotherham United . In the further course of the season he completed 22 matches for his new club, including a Champions League game against the Spanish club Celta Vigo . Continuing injury problems as well as the competition in the person of Ashley Cole ensured that the U-21 international's full breakthrough was a long time coming. When Cole broke his foot, Clichy played himself more in the foreground. However, he also broke his foot and was out for a long time. In April 2006 he returned to the first team and was substituted on in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League against Villarreal . After Cole's move to Chelsea before the start of the 2006/07 season, coach Arsène Wenger gave Clichy a regular place.

In the summer break of 2011, Clichy signed a four-year contract with the Premiere League competitor Manchester City , where he stayed until 2017.

In July 2017 he moved to Istanbul Başakşehir and received a contract until 2020.

National team

He played his first international match for France in September 2008 in the World Cup qualifier against Serbia .
