Ebbsfleet United (officially: Ebbsfleet United Football Club ) - also known as The Fleet - is an English football club from Northfleet , which was founded in 1946 and currently plays in the sixth class National League North .

Until May 2007 the club was called Gravesend & Northfleet FC , which resulted from a merger of the two clubs Gravesend United and Northfleet United . It changed its name when the Eurostar Group became a sponsor. The new club name is derived from the Ebbsfleet International station, where the Eurostar high-speed trains have stopped since November 19, 2007.

Remarkable

The club became known nationwide in November 2007 through the takeover of the soccer fan site "myfootballclub.co.uk", where every contributor of 35 pounds (just under 50 euros ) secures a vote on the club's fortunes and together with all other "shareholders" via Votes on the Internet about the list, transfers and use of the deposits. Around 32,000 users of the website contributed at peak times, raising around £ 700,000 (just under 1 million euros).

However, after the end of the first year, the majority of MyFC participants did not renew their membership. In 2009 only 9,000 paying members were counted. In September 2010, two and a half years after the takeover, 3,500 members were still registered. Only 132 of these members took part in a vote in October 2010 on the coach's freedom of choice in transfer matters.
