FA Trophy
The Football Association Challenge Trophy is a cup competition in English football .
Attendees
The teams of the first to fourth leagues of the National League system take part in the competition, i. H. the clubs from the three leagues of the Football Conference and the regional championships under it, Southern League , Isthmian League and Northern Premier League . The participants are therefore all fifth to eighth grade. Teams from the leagues below in the league pyramid take part in the FA Vase , while teams from the four top leagues compete for the FA Cup .
history
The competition was introduced in 1969 for semi-professional clubs. The final is always held in Wembley Stadium , only during the construction phase it took place in Villa Park .
Cup
The trophy that the winner receives was donated by Ernest Cochrane in 1905 to create an international tournament between teams from England, the United States and Canada . This should drive the development of the sport in the new world. However, the competition was never held on these terms.
