The Scarborough Football Club was a football club from the northeast English coastal town of Scarborough . The club, founded in 1879, was dissolved in June 2007 due to debts totaling £ 2.5 million. The club's greatest success was twelve years in the lowest English professional league (1987-1999), and the club, together with two other clubs, is the record winner of the FA Trophy with three successes .
Successor clubs
After the dissolution of Scarborough FC, two successors emerged; the FC Scarborough fan association The Seadog Trust founded the Club Scarborough Athletic as a successor club in June 2007 ; the youth teams, including coaching staff, and the football school of the old Scarborough FC were taken over by the George Pindar Community Sports College ; in 2008 the club Scarborough Town was founded as a superstructure for these teams, as well as a new men's team . Both clubs play in very low amateur leagues, Town in the eleventh and Athletic in the ninth division.
