The al-Jazira-Mohammed-Bin-Zayed-Stadion ( Arabic ستاد محمد بن زايد) is a football stadium in the east of the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates . It is mainly used as the home stadium for the football club al-Jazira Club .
Originally the stadium held 15,000 spectators. Since 2006 it has been expanded in two construction phases. After the first phase of construction, the stadium offered space for 24,000 people. After the 2007 Golf Cup , the second construction phase began. The final completion was in 2009. The new stadium was one of the two venues for the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup . Since its completion it has a capacity of 42,056 seats and is one of the most modern football stadiums in the Arab world. It was built on the model of English football stadiums, where the spectators are very close to the edge of the field. Two office towers were integrated into two corners of the stadium. A hotel will later be located in one of the two towers. In the second tower, offices were created in which the association also has its headquarters.
