For the next season, the squad was strengthened with Mirko Vučinić , Jonathan Pitroipa and Manuel Lanzini after last season's three signings left the club. Furthermore, Walter Zenga was dismissed and replaced by the Belgian Eric Gerets . The season ended with 2nd place in the league. In addition, they were eliminated early on in both cup competitions. Even if the team narrowly missed the championship title, the players could win individual trophies.
