Džemaludin Mušović (born October 30, 1944 in Sarajevo ) is a former Yugoslav soccer player and today's Bosnian soccer coach.

Player career

Mušović began his playing career at FK Sarajevo . He made his debut in 1965 in the Yugoslav national team , for which he played ten games until 1968, scoring two goals. In 1966 he won the Cup with Hajduk Split .

In 1972 he moved to Belgium to Standard Liège , where he scored 24 goals in 58 league games over the next two years.

From 1975 to 1978 he let his career in France end with LB Châteauroux and FC Valenciennes .

Coaching career

Mušović began his coaching career with small clubs in Bosnia-Herzegovina . His first success was promotion to the 1st league of Yugoslavia with Celik Zenica in 1986.

In 1988 he took over his parent club FK Sarajevo, where he worked for the next two years. At the same time he was assistant coach of the Yugoslav national teams under Ivica Osim . The sporting highlight of this time was reaching the quarter-finals of the 1990 World Cup .

After the World Cup, Mušović went to Qatar and coached the clubs FC Qatar , Al-Sadd and Al-Arabi there until 1995 . In 1995/96 he coached the Al-Jazira Club team in the United Arab Emirates . After the Bosnian War ended in 1996, he returned to his homeland and worked as a sports director in the Football Association of Bosnia-Herzegovina until 1998. From 1998 to 1999 he coached the country's national team .

In 1999, Mušović returned to Qatar. In 2000 he won the championship and the Emir Cup with Al-Sadd. In 2002 and 2004 he won the Crown Prince Cup with Qatar SC and in 2003 in the championship. In 2002, 2003 and 2004 he was also named Qatar Coach of the Year.

In August 2004, Mušović replaced the French Philippe Troussier as head of the Qatar national soccer team and immediately won the golf cup . At the Asian Games in December 2006 , he won the gold medal with the Qatar team.

However, after the Qatar team failed both at the Golf Cup and at the Asian Cup in the preliminary round, Mušović was dismissed in July 2007.
