Mamam Cherif Touré (born January 13, 1981 in Mango ) is a Togolese football player . The midfielder was most recently under contract with Al-Jazira Club .
Career
Mamam Cherif Touré was discovered in Lomé in 1996 by the former German national goalkeeper Andreas Köpke and taken to Frankfurt am Main , where he played in the youth of Eintracht Frankfurt . After a few appearances for 1. FC Nürnberg , he had the chance to move to Olympique Marseille in 1998 , where Touré's idol Abédi Pelé had previously played, so he gratefully accepted the offer. Technically he was also able to convince in Marseille, but in the opinion of the coach he was not physically fit enough, so he had to leave the club. In the following years, Cherif Touré played at Al-Nasr Sports Club Dubai and Al-Jazira Club in the United Arab Emirates , where he did not feel comfortable. Therefore he returned to Europe in 2001 and signed a contract with Livingston FC in Scotland , where he was able to prevail. However, when the club ran into financial difficulties in 2004, Cherif Touré left Livingston again. At first he couldn't find a new employer; However, since he was convincing in the national team, he was signed in 2005 by the French FC Metz . In 2007 he moved back to Al-Jazira Club in the United Arab Emirates .
Mamam Cherif Touré has completed 41 international matches for Togo (as of June 19, 2006) and scored 7 goals. He made his debut in the national team in 1998. He was in the squad of the Togolese national team at the 2006 World Cup . His brother Sherif Touré was also an international.
