1. FC Amberg
The 1. FC Amberg was a sports club from Amberg in the Upper Palatinate . The first soccer team played in the highest Bavarian amateur league for 25 years.
history
The club was founded on April 6, 1921 as Amberger FV and changed the club name to VfL Amberg on January 17, 1939 . This was dissolved at the end of the Second World War and re-established as TuS Amberg on November 9, 1945 . TV Amberg, founded in 1861, was also part of this association . On July 15, 1949, the club split into 1. FC Amberg and TV Amberg.
After 1. FC had already become champions of the Upper Palatinate in 1950, they were promoted to the Bayern League a year later . There the Ambergers became champions straight away and made it to the second division south . There the team only needed one point in the last game at the defeated Olympia Lampertheim , but lost 8-2. Union Böckingen drew level on points, so that a playoff was necessary. Böckingen won this 3-2 in neutral Würzburg . There followed several years between title and relegation battle before the Ambergers had to relegate from the Bayern League in 1963. Three years later, he was relegated to the district league, which was followed by direct promotion.
In 1973 the club received a modern venue with the stadium at the Schanzl . Two years later, under coach Bernd Oles, he was promoted back to the Bayern League. There the Ambergers established themselves as a top club and reached third place in 1977 and the runner-up two years later, one point behind ESV Ingolstadt-Ringsee . In the early 1980s, the team could no longer build on these successes and in 1982 1. FC was relegated from the Bayern League. The direct resurgence was missed after a 0-1 defeat against FC Memmingen in the Bayern League relegation. 1986 succeeded under coach Aki Schmidt the promotion to the Bavarian upper house, which could be held until 1991.
The third promotion to the Bayern League came in 1994. Because of the introduction of the Regionalliga , the Ambergers were able to rise as runners-up. With their 15th place in the table, the team reached the relegation round to stay in the Bayernliga, but the board had to file for bankruptcy due to debts of 1.7 million marks . This led to the forced relegation and to the fact that the FC Enikon Augsburg took the relegation place. On August 3, 1995, 1. FC Amberg was dissolved. The members then joined TV 1861 Amberg , whose football department became independent in 1997 as FC Amberg .
