The FC Enikon Augsburg was a football club from Augsburg , which mainly consisted of Croatian members. With promotion to the Bayern League in 1994, he was one of the top-class migrant clubs in Germany. After the direct relegation, the club dissolved in 1995.

history

FC Enikon Augsburg was founded in 1978 by Croatian migrants in Augsburg and quickly developed into a magnet for Croatian footballers from all over the region. Within a few years, the club achieved several successes, which were accompanied by various tournament successes. In 1994, FC Enikon achieved the title of "Swabian indoor soccer champions" and failed in the final of the Bavarian indoor championship only in the final after a seven-meter shootout at TSV Vestenbergsgreuth .

This successful sporting development finally culminated in 1993/94 with promotion to the Bayern League, where the club could not hold up after initial success and had to relegate immediately. As a result, the Croatian main sponsor ended his engagement, whereupon the association was dissolved in the summer of 1995.

meaning

Thanks to several promotions in a very short time, FC Enikon was the third strongest team in the Fuggerstadt after FC Augsburg and TSV Schwaben Augsburg and was seen in many places as an example of a successful project of integrating migrants in a sporting way.

The team enjoyed the reputation of being incredibly tech-savvy, which can be seen from the many successes in fast-paced and technically demanding indoor football .

successes

  • Promotion to the Bayernliga 1993/94
  • Swabian indoor soccer champion 1994
  • Bavarian vice indoor soccer champion 1994

Trivia

The last league game in the history of the FC Enikon club took place on May 27, 1995, curiously enough, against a second migrant club, which has now been dissolved, but whose name is even more popular today: the game against SV Türk Gücü Munich ended in a 1-1 draw. In the end, Enikon played the last competitive game in the relegation at SpVgg Weiden, which returned to the Bayernliga with a 3-2 win, while the relegation of the Swabians was sealed.
