Peter Zeiler (born October 8, 1970 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
In 1990 Peter Zeiler came from 1. FC Amberg to TSV 1860 Munich in the Bayern League . In the very first year with the Münchner Löwen , who previously played in third class for nine years, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . As a regular player and with eight goals, Zeiler played a key role in the rise. After a year in the second division, it went straight back down to the top division . 1992/93 they managed to get promoted again, but Zeiler only played one game that season. In 1993/94 , Munich 60 surprisingly even made it through to the Bundesliga with coach Werner Lorant . But Zeiler, who no longer had a regular place in the team, left the club after the end of the season.
He moved back to the Bayern League for SpVgg Unterhaching . In the very first year Zeiler rose for the third time in his career from the top division to the second division. Four years in the second division followed, and in 1999 he was promoted to the top division of German football. Due to persistent knee problems, he could only be used there five times in the 1999/2000 season . He played his last game on December 18, 1999 against Bayer Leverkusen. So he decided to have a dead man's meniscus implanted. After seeking advice from Christian Wück , who had already had such an operation, the operation was carried out on November 13, 2000 in Belgium . Zeiler hoped to be able to play football painlessly again, but after this operation he did not play a game for the Unterhachinger and finally ended his career after he was officially in the squad of the Munich suburbs, who will return to the second division from 2001 onwards, until the 2001/02 season stood until his contract expired in the summer of 2002. During his rehabilitation phase, Zeiler, who had already obtained a degree in physics, completed a postgraduate course in economics at the Hagen Open University .
