Uwe Scherr (born November 16, 1966 in Amberg ) is a former German soccer player . Most recently he was sports director at Alemannia Aachen .
career
Scherr, who comes from a large family and grew up with ten sisters and three brothers, began his career at SG Siemens in Amberg . From there he moved to 1. FC Amberg in the Bayern League, before moving to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1989, coming from FC Augsburg . The midfielder played in the 1st Bundesliga for nine years . In 1989 he was first used for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Germany's highest soccer league. With 1. FC Kaiserslautern he won the DFB Cup in 1990 and German champion in 1991 . Because of his performances he was part of the extended circle of the national team, but he did not complete an international match.
For the 1992/93 season he moved to FC Schalke 04 . In 1996 he went to 1. FC Cologne , where he was unable to assert himself - also due to an injury. In 1998 he left Cologne and joined Wuppertaler SV . After a year there, he ended his career in which he scored ten goals in 183 Bundesliga games. Scherr then returned to FC Schalke 04 and initially worked there as chief scout. After Helmut Schulte left , Scherr was head of the youth department until February 2012.
In May 2012, he succeeded Erik Meijer as sports director of Alemannia Aachen . In June 2013 he announced that he would not extend the contract with Alemannia Aachen, which expired on June 30, 2013. The reason he gave was that Alemannia could only start from scratch without him.
After his stint at Alemannia Aachen, Scherr moved to TSV Marl-Hüls where he was employed until April 2017. From April 2017, he was employed as head of the youth department at the Hungarian club Honvéd Budapest
In August 2020 he was introduced as the sports director of the youth performance center for the U19 to U10 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
