Jan Majkowski (born October 20, 1952 - † July 10, 2014 in Nuremberg ) was a German football player and coach .
Player career
Majkowski made the leap into the professional team from the youth of 1. FC Nürnberg under coach Barthel Thomas in the 1970/71 season. After Tschik Cajkovski took over as coach in 1971, Majkowski established himself in the regional league team, for which he played a total of 32 games and two goals in the Regionalliga Süd from 1971 to 1974. In 1974 he qualified with the club for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga South . In the following three years, the midfielder came to 104 second division games and six goals. In 1977 he moved to 1. FC Amberg for one season , but then returned to the club. First in the amateur team, he was later a supplementary player in the professional squad and made promotion to the Bundesliga with his teammates in the 1979/80 season . He completed his only Bundesliga game in the Bundesliga season on May 30, 1981 in a 1-1 draw against FC Schalke 04 , when he was substituted on in the 80th minute. Then Majkowski ended his career.
Coaching career
After the end of his career, he coached the amateurs of 1. FC Nürnberg from 1995 to 2002 as assistant coach at the side of head coach Dieter Nüssing . After leaving Nuremberg, he became head coach of the TSV Röthenbach club near St. Wolfgang . He then trained with 1. SC Feucht , TSV Wendelstein, ESV marshalling yard, FV Wendelstein and, until his death, TSV Fischbach.
Illness and death
In the spring of 2013 Majkowski fell ill with cancer, which he succumbed to on July 10, 2014.
