Barthel Thomas

Barthel Thomas (born September 14, 1929 in Cologne , † October 23, 2005 in Bad Bodendorf ) was a German football coach .

Coaching career

As a football player, Thomas was with SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 and then with VfL Cologne in 1899 . Thomas began his coaching activity in 1959 at Stolberger SV ; he stayed there until the end of 1961 and moved to Roda JC Kerkrade in early 1962 . From 1963 he was the association coach for the Middle Rhine region before moving to 1. FC Nürnberg on July 1, 1970 . Thomas won the championship in the second -rate regional soccer league south with the "Club" in 1970/71 , but then clearly failed in the promotion round to the Bundesliga . Thomas made another move on July 1, 1971 to the Stuttgarter Kickers , where he stayed for a year until June 30, 1971. He then accepted a position as a coach at Alemannia Aachen for a year . In 1979/80 he was the Rhineland association coach before he coached Wuppertaler SV for six months from July 1, 1983 .
