Kenwyne Joel Jones (born October 5, 1984 in Point Fortin ) is a retired soccer player from Trinidad and Tobago .

The striker was most recently under contract with Atlanta United .

Club career

Jones began his career with Joe Public FC in his home country and in 2002 moved to W Connection , one of the leading clubs in Trinidad. In 2004 he moved to Southampton FC in the FA Premier League . In December 2004 he was loaned to the second division team Sheffield Wednesday for a short time . In seven games Jones scored seven goals, another commitment failed because of Southampton's transfer request. Upon his return in January 2005, he was loaned out to the second division again, this time to Stoke City .

In the 2005/06 season he was then able to prevail at Southampton FC, who had to go to the second division during his absence.

In the 2007/08 season, Jones moved from Southampton FC to Sunderland FC for six million pounds .

On August 11, 2010, he signed a four-year contract with Stoke City , where he played in 2005.

On January 28, 2014, Jones moved to Cardiff City . In return, Peter Odemwingie moved to Stoke City. In 2015 he was loaned to AFC Bournemouth and in 2016 to al-Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi .

National team

Jones made his debut for the Trinidad and Tobago national team in January 2003 against Finland. When his home country qualified for a World Cup finals for the first time, he was mostly a regular player and was also on the field in the two play-off games against Bahrain (one substitution, one substitution). So far, he has completed 51 senior internationals for Trinidad and Tobago and scored seven goals.
