The Joe Public Football Club was a Trinidadian football team from Tunapuna . The club played in the country's highest football league, the TT Pro League , until the 2010/2011 season .

Also known as the Eastern Lions , the club belonged to former FIFA Vice-President and CONCACAF President Jack Warner .

history

In 1996, the Trinidad and Tobago national team failed to qualify for the 1998 World Cup. In order to better promote players in their own country and thus bring about a better result for future world championships, Jack Warner wanted to found a professional league. In preparation he founded, among other things, the Joe Public Football Club.

In 1996, the team first took part in the competitions of the Eastern Football Association and won them. This qualified the team for the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association's Champion of Champions Tournament, which could also be won. In 1997 the club took part in the Semi-Professional Football League (SPFL) and finished the season in second place. During the first few years, Warner established professional structures in his club that had not yet had a club in Trinidad and Tobago. In 1998 the team became champions in the Craven A SPFL League and won the CFU Club Championship . This enabled her to qualify for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup , where they had to admit defeat in the first game.

After the 2010/2011 season, Joe Public FC, as well as Ma Pau SC and FC South End , withdrew from the TT Pro League.

The club played its home games at the Marvin Lee Stadium , which is located at the João Havelange Center of Excellence in Tunapuna.
