Nilmar Honorato da Silva , called Nilmar (born July 14, 1984 in Bandeirentes ), is a former Brazilian soccer player .
Career
At the age of nineteen, Nilmar was already a regular for the Brazilian first division club SC Internacional . This aroused the interest of some European clubs. Olympique Lyon , Manchester United and Sevilla FC wanted to sign the attacker. Olympique Lyon finally won the contract, and so Nilmar moved to France in 2004 for € 5.75 million. In his first season, Nilmar became a regular player. He scored two goals in 32 games.
In the 2005/06 season Nilmar was awarded to São Paulo to SC Corinthians Paulista . For this, the Brazilian club had to transfer € 1.5 million to the French account. After the season, the club wanted to keep Nilmar, especially as a replacement for Argentine striker Carlos Tévez, who had switched to West Ham United .
SC Corinthians Paulista and Olympique Lyon agreed on a transfer fee of € 10 million. Of the 10 million, however, the Brazilians only paid 2 million euros. A legal battle between the Corinthians and Nilmar was supposed to clarify Nilmar's view as to whether his contract was invalid as he wanted to move back to Europe.
After many rumors of change and an offer from VfL Wolfsburg in the amount of 15 million euros, he moved to FC Villarreal in 2009 . This paid 16.5 million euros to Nilmar's old club SC Internacional .
On July 16, 2012, the Qatari first division team Al-Rayyan SC announced the commitment of Nilmar. Nilmar, who had previously been relegated to the second Spanish league with Villarreal , signed a four-year contract with his new club. After returning to Internacional, he was signed by al-Nasr Dubai for two years for the 2015/16 season .
He ended his career in 2017.
Special
In addition to the € 5.75 million, SC Internacional received from Olympique Lyon 20% of the transfer fee of the resale proceeds.
