The 12th U-17 World Cup took place from August 18 to September 9, 2007 in South Korea . The defending champion was the national team of Mexico , which could not qualify for this tournament.
After a dry spell of three World Cup tournaments, the selection of the DFB was able to qualify again for the U-17 World Cup. She managed to reach the semi-finals, which she lost to later world champions Nigeria. However, she was able to make the game for third place victorious.
The Brazilian Fabinho scored the fastest goal ever in a FIFA tournament after nine seconds in the group game against New Zealand.
