Sascha Bigalke began his footballing career in the youth department of the Reinickendorfer Füchse and moved to Hertha BSC with his father, a youth coach . There he went through all the junior teams and played in the A-Juniors Bundesliga until the second half of the 2007/08 season before he received a professional contract, but initially played for the second team of Hertha BSC in the Oberliga Nord / Nordost.

To his competitive debut for the professional team of Hertha came Bigalke in the first round of qualifying for the 2008/09 UEFA Cup against Nistru Otaci . Over a year later, he made his professional debut in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League against SC Heerenveen on the starting line-up. On November 21, 2009 Bigalke made his debut at 1-1 at VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga ; this was also his only league assignment for the Hertha professional team. In July 2011 he moved to third division club SpVgg Unterhaching on a free transfer .

On August 31, 2012 Bigalke was signed by the second division club 1. FC Köln . Here he signed a three-year contract. He scored his first goal in a 3-2 win against SSV Jahn Regensburg on October 20, 2012. On June 22, 2013, in a test match against Sportfreunde Troisdorf , he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and a tear in the medial meniscus in his right knee . These injuries resulted in a break until spring 2014.

Before the start of the 2014/15 season , he and four other professionals were told that they would no longer be planned with them in the future. From then on, Bigalke initially trained with the U-21s of 1. FC Köln, and in August the contract was terminated. At the request of club president Manfred Schwabl , he returned to the third division SpVgg Unterhaching. After playing a few games for Unterhaching, he injured his cruciate ligament again in November 2014 . His expiring contract was not extended and Bigalke was initially without a club after Unterhaching's relegation to the Bavarian regional league . In January 2016, the Unterhaching game association signed him for the third time and he signed a contract that initially ran until the end of the season. In 2017 he was promoted to the 3rd division again with Unterhaching.

National team

Bigalke was a regular member of the DFB youth team until 2010. With the U-17 selection, he took part in the U-17 European Championship in 2007 and the U-17 World Championship in 2007 . At the World Cup, he formed the offensive of the German team with Toni Kroos , Dennis Dowidat and Richard Sukuta-Pasu , which reached third place after a 2-1 win over Ghana. Bigalke is highlighted in the official report as one of five outstanding players in the German team and is described with the words "dribbling midfielder with good technique and great commitment, good passing game, dangerous over the wings".
