Macauley Chrisantus (born August 20, 1990 in Abuja , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian football player .

Career

In the club

As a youth Chrisantus played for Abuja FC in his home country Nigeria . In 2007 the German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV signed the youth player. An immediate change was possible because Chrisantus was officially without a contract - the transfer rights were with his advisor. In the first half of the season, however, Chrisantus could no longer be used, after the DFB had applied for a game permit, the striker was eligible to play in the second half of the 2007/08 season. He should be introduced to the professional squad and signed a professional contract for his 18th birthday during the summer break. Chrisantus was eligible to play in his first season in Germany through a training visa in the amateur field. Since this expired when the player came of age, he was only allowed to play in the first team in the 2008/09 season, but where he was not used.

For the 2009/10 season he was loaned to the second division club Karlsruher SC . In his league debut on matchday one, he scored the goal to make it 1-1 just a few minutes after being substituted on. As a result, Chrisantus came on seven missions in the first ten games, but he was not a single time on the starting line-up. Due to an assault, he was banned from the DFB for four games after the 10th matchday, a total of 25 missions in his first round with the Baden and scored three goals. In the second division season 2010/11, the KSC coaches gave each other a hand, Markus Schupp was followed by Uwe Rapolder , under whom Chrisantus was hardly considered. He was only used regularly after the renewed change of coach: In the last ten games of the season under Rainer Scharinger , Christantus played nine times and contributed with four goals - in total he was KSC's most successful goalscorer in this round with eight goals - to keep the Karlsruher SC in class.

In the summer of 2011, Hamburger SV extended the contract with Chrisantus until June 30, 2013. In order to gain more match practice, he was loaned out to a second division team and initially played for one season for FSV Frankfurt . On the 6th matchday of the 2011/12 second division season, he scored his first goal for Hessen against his old club Karlsruher SC. In the first half of the season Chrisantus was mostly part of the black-blue team, where he was used by coach Hans-Jürgen Boysen partly on the left wing and partly in the striker. After the Hessians only finished 16th at the end of 2011, another striker, Ilijan Mizanski , was signed during the winter break , who was set under the new coach Benno Möhlmann . Chrisantus mostly had to be content with a place on the bench and short stakes in the remaining season, Möhlmann only considered him twice in the starting lineup. In 26 appearances he scored eight goals for the Bornheimers, who at the end of the round held the class with 13th place.

In preparation for the 2012/13 season Chrisantus initially returned to HSV, but should not play a role in Thorsten Fink's squad and therefore be given up. So he finally moved to the Spanish second division UD Las Palmas during the summer break of 2012 . He signed a two-year contract with the Gran Canaria club until June 30, 2014.

In July 2014 he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig to the Central Anatolian representative Sivasspor . He left Sivasspor in February 2015 and switched to AEK Athens instead . After only a year he moved again, this time to the Spanish second division promoted FC Reus .

Chrisantus has been playing for the Finnish club HJK Helsinki since July 2018 .

In the national team

Not least because of the goals by Chrisantus, the Nigerian U-17 team , the so-called "Golden Eagles" , became world champions at the U-17 World Cup in South Korea in 2007 . With seven goals in seven games, he was named top scorer and the second best player of the tournament behind Toni Kroos . In 2009 he took part with the Nigerian U-20 team in the African Youth Championship and finished third, which also meant qualifying for the 2009 Junior World Cup in Egypt. So far, however, there has been no use for the Nigerian senior team .
