Trapp played primarily in the second team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern until 2010 , but sat after a broken arm with goalkeeper Tobias Sippel in the 2008/09 season as Luis Robles' representative for the entire second half of the season on the bench of the professional team, which at that time was in the 2nd Bundesliga played. In the DFB Cup , Trapp represented the suspended Sippel in the first round games in 2008/09 and 2009/10 . Trapp made his Bundesliga debut on March 12, 2011 in a 2-1 home win against SC Freiburg , when he stood in for the sick Sippel. Also in the remaining 8 games of the 2010/11 season he was 90 minutes in goal of the Palatinate and finished 7th in the table with his team.

In the 2011/12 season he was preferred to Sippel until the 23rd matchday. When Trapp had to pause because of a muscle injury, Sippel was again the goalkeeper. At the end of the season Kaiserslautern was relegated from bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.
