Erik Durm (born May 12, 1992 in Pirmasens ) is a German soccer player . Durm mainly plays as a left, rarely as a right defender and is also used as a left winger. He was world champion with the national team in Brazil in 2014 and is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt .

Career

Durm began his career in 1998 at SG Rieschweiler and moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken in 2007 . There he still helped out as a B-youth in the A-youth. In the A-youth, Durm was the top scorer in the Regionalliga 2009/10 with 13 goals.

In July 2010 he moved to the youth department of 1. FSV Mainz 05 and won the A-Youth Association Cup 2010/11. In the A-Jugend he scored 16 goals in 25 games during the season. As a youth player, he made his debut in the second team of the FSV on December 4, 2010 against SV Elversberg . This was his only use in the 2010/11 season with the second team. In the 2011/12 season Durm was in the squad of the Mainz U23 team and scored seven goals in the first ten games. On the 7th matchday he scored two goals in a 3-0 away win at Eintracht Trier . After scoring nine goals in the first half of the season, he scored four more times in the second half. In January 2012, the FSV made him an offer for a professional contract, which he has not yet accepted, as Borussia Dortmund's second team also showed interest in a commitment.

For the 2012/13 season Durm moved to Borussia Dortmund II in the 3rd division . He trained together with the professionals in preparation. On July 21, 2012 he made his debut in the third division in the 2-0 defeat at VfL Osnabrück .

On August 10, 2013 Durm made his debut on the first match day of the 2013/14 season in the 1st Bundesliga when he came on for Robert Lewandowski in the 87th minute of the 4-0 away win against FC Augsburg . He made his European debut on October 1, 2013 in a 3-0 home win in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League against French club Olympique Marseille , where he prepared the 1-0 for Robert Lewandowski. On May 9, 2015, Durm scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in a 2-0 win against Hertha BSC on matchday 31 with the goal of the final score in the 47th minute. Due to a knee injury, he did not play a competitive game in the first half of the 2015/16 season . On January 23, 2016 he made his comeback in a 3-1 away win against Borussia Mönchengladbach .

For the 2018/19 season Durm moved to the Premier League at Huddersfield Town , under whose coach David Wagner he had already played for Borussia Dortmund II in the 2012/13 season. He signed a contract that ran until 2019.

After the team's relegation, he left Huddersfield Town and joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer . His contract runs until 2023.

Durm played for the German U19 and U20 national team in 2011 . He made his debut in the U19 national team on May 31, 2011 in a 3-0 win against Hungary and scored two goals. On November 12, 2011, he made his debut for the German U20 against Poland (0: 1). On August 13, 2013, he made his debut for the U21 national team in a 0-0 draw against France .

On June 1, 2014, Durm made his senior international debut against Cameroon and was subsequently included in the final squad of the German senior national team for the World Cup in Brazil , which won the tournament. In addition to Matthias Ginter and Kevin Großkreutz , he was one of three field players without a mission. Durm played his seventh and to date last international match against Spain on November 18, 2014 .
