David Ángel Abraham (born July 15, 1986 in Chabás , Santa Fe ) is an Argentinian football player . The central defender is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt .

Career

Abraham began playing football at his hometown club Club Atlético Hurácan Chabás and was initially used in defensive midfield . From his time at CA Independiente , for which he played from 2003 to 2007, Abraham was a central defender . Abraham then moved to Gimnàstic de Tarragona in Spain before joining FC Basel in 2008 . Abraham made his debut for FC Basel at the Stade de Suisse in a 2-1 away win against BSC Young Boys on July 18, 2008. He made his European debut on July 30, 2008 at the Ullevi Stadium in a 1-1 draw in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against IFK Göteborg . He scored his first goal for Basel on September 16, 2008 in the group game of the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League in a 2-1 home defeat at St. Jakob-Park against Shakhtar Donetsk .

In the 2009/10 season David Abraham won the double with FC Basel . He scored his first championship goal on July 24, 2010 in a 2-1 away win against FC Sion . In the 2010/11 season he became Swiss champions for the second time with FC Basel . In the following season he won the championship for the third time in a row with FCB and won the Swiss Cup for the second time .

For the 2012/13 season Abraham moved to Getafe FC; he signed a four-year contract. On January 22, 2013 Abraham moved to the German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He signed a contract until the end of June 2016. On May 27, 2013 Abraham scored his first goal for TSG in the relegation second leg against 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

For the 2015/16 season , Abraham moved to league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt . He signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2018. On December 9, 2017, Abraham extended his contract in Frankfurt ahead of schedule until 2021. After failing in the cup final at Borussia Dortmund in May 2017 , he won in May 2018 Eintracht won the DFB Cup with a 3-1 final win against FC Bayern Munich . In both finals, Abraham led the team as captain on the field. On April 6, 2019, he played his 100th Bundesliga game for Eintracht in Frankfurt's 2-1 win against FC Schalke 04 .

On November 10, 2019, he caused a sensation in the game against SC Freiburg when he ran over to the sideline in injury time of the game Freiburg's coach Christian Streich and received the red card. In addition to a club-internal fine, the Argentine was banned by the DFB sports court for seven weeks.
