André Miguel Valente da Silva (born November 6, 1995 in Baguim do Monte ) is a Portuguese football player . The striker plays on loan from AC Milan for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and is a Portuguese international .

Career

In the club

André Silva was born in the municipality of Baguim do Monte, Gondomar county, in the Porto district. In his youth he played for the local clubs SC Salgueiros , Boavista Porto and Padroense FC . In 2011 he moved to the youth department of FC Porto . Since 2013 he was used in the second team of FC Porto, with which he won the championship in the Segunda League in the 2015/16 season . At the end of that season he was able to establish himself in the first team. In the 2016/17 season , Silva started as a regular player and scored 16 goals in 32 league games. On August 21, 2016, he extended his contract with FC Porto prematurely until 2021. For the 2017/18 season he moved to Serie A at AC Milan . For the 2018/19 season he was loaned to Sevilla FC , for which he scored 9 goals in 27 league games.

At the beginning of September 2019, Silva switched to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on the last day of the transfer period in exchange with Ante Rebić . Both players were loaned for two years each. The Eintracht sports director Fredi Bobic said that they had initially agreed on loan deals in order to be able to negotiate the transfer fees without time pressure. Silva initially had teething problems at Eintracht and, until the season was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic , she made 15 Bundesliga appearances with four goals and two goals each in the DFB Cup and the Europa League . After resuming the season, the Portuguese knew how to convince and scored 8 goals in the remaining 10 Bundesliga games. He scored on June 13, 2020 in the 4-1 win against Hertha BSC after a solo run by his teammate Daichi Kamada with a hoe and was named goalscorer of the month by the sports show together with the Japanese .

In the national team

Silva went through all Portuguese junior teams. For the senior national team , he was appointed to the squad for the first time for the games in September 2016 against Gibraltar and the first game of the World Cup qualification against Switzerland . He was also used in the other qualifying matches and with nine goals contributed to the Portuguese qualifying for the World Cup. In June and July 2017, he and his team took part in the FIFA Confederations Cup , in which Portugal finished third. At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Silva was part of the Portuguese squad and was eliminated with his team in the round of 16 against Uruguay . He was used in three games. In June 2019, Silva won the UEFA Nations League with the senior team, but was not part of the Portuguese squad at the finals.
