The 2nd FIFA Junior World Cup (officially: FIFA World Youth Tournament for the Coca-Cola Cup ) took place in Japan from August 25 to September 7, 1979 . World champions became the Argentine team, who defeated the Soviet Union 3-1 in the final.
The best player of the tournament was the Argentine Diego Maradona , top scorer was Ramón Díaz , who also played for the Argentine team.
