Sergio García de la Fuente (born June 9, 1983 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish football player who has played for Espanyol Barcelona as a striker in the Spanish Primera División since 2017 .
Career
society
Sergio García was trained in the legendary " Barça School " and made his first four games for Barca professional game from 2003 to 2004 . After moving from Barcelona to Levante , he was finally able to play more regularly in the first division . At Levante, however, he only stayed one season due to his good performance, he moved to Real Saragossa in 2005 . Although he was mostly a regular there, he could not prevent Saragossa's relegation to the Segunda División in the 2007/08 season .
Despite his contract, which ran until 2011, Tottenham Hotspur , among others, showed interest in signing Garcia. In the end, however, he moved to Betis Sevilla shortly before the transfer closed on September 1 for just over ten million euros . With this move García hoped to have a chance to play in the Spanish national team again, where he was sorted out by the new coach Vicente del Bosque . At Betis, he could not meet the expectations placed in him: in his first season at Betis, the club was relegated to the Segunda División .
Before the 2010/11 season, Sergio García signed a five-year deal with Espanyol Barcelona , who signed him for a transfer fee of 1.8 million euros.
National team
Without ever having played for Spain García was nominated in the squad of the Spanish national soccer team for the EM 2008 - as a replacement for the absent Bojan Krkić . On May 31, 2008, he made his first game for Spain against Peru when he came on in the 82nd minute. He then won the 2008 European Championship with the Selección . He was able to record a use in the insignificant last group game against Greece and in this game provide the template for Daniel Güiza's winning goal .
