Roberto José Rosales Altuve (born November 20, 1988 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan football player . He is currently on loan to Espanyol Barcelona .

Career

society

As a boy, Roberto Rosales graduated from the Escuela del Instituto Pedagógico football school in his Venezuelan homeland. At the age of 15 he moved to FC Deportivo Gulima. He played in the national championships for U-17 and U-20 teams before he was accepted into the youth department of the dominant capital club Caracas FC . Here he was able to play in the first team in 2006 at the age of 17. Because of his speed and technique, he was considered one of the country's greatest football talents. When he came to Europe in 2007, he was rejected for medical reasons at the RSC Anderlecht , but after a trial training at the KAA Gent he received a contract there. He played 15 times in the First Division and made his international club debut on July 14, 2007 with a use in the UI Cup in the 4-0 win in Northern Ireland against Cliftonville FC . His debut season he successfully concluded with only the third participation in the KAA Gent's cup final .

In the following season 2008/09 Rosales remained in the first half series initially rather a supplementary player, but in the second half of the season he had his breakthrough. In the 2009/10 season he was a regular player; Gent was third in the league and this time won the cup. The Sportwereld of the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad called Rosales “a feast for the eyes on the right side” at the end of the season and voted him into their “Eleven of the Season”. Although the attacking right defender is more brilliant as a cross giver than as a goalscorer, he scored five goals in his 32 games of the season. Since he was one of the outstanding players at the KAA Gent, the club's board did not want to sell him despite various requests. But Rosales ultimately followed his coach Michel Preud'homme to FC Twente, where he replaced the outgoing Ron Stam .

In Enschede he quickly secured a regular place in the 2010/11 season . He was also used in the group stage of the Champions League in all FC Twente games and scored the goal in the match against Tottenham Hotspur to make it 2-2.

For the 2014/15 season Rosales moved to Málaga FC . In the summer of 2018 he was loaned to Espanyol Barcelona for a year .

National team

Before he came to Europe, Rosales played for the U-20 national team in his home country. On 29 March 2007 he made his debut in the senior team when he at 5: 0 victory in a friendly against New Zealand came off the bench for the second half. By May 2011 he had played 19 games in the jersey of the Vinotinto , the "red wine".
