Víctor Sánchez Mata (born September 8, 1987 in Terrassa , province of Barcelona ) is a Spanish football player . The versatile midfielder has played for Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona since 2012 .

Career

In the 2006/2007 season he was an undisputed regular player in the third team of FC Barcelona and played 36 games in which he scored seven goals. The following season he played in the second team under Pep Guardiola as coach. The team achieved promotion to the Segunda División B in the 2007/08 season . Sánchez made his debut for the pros on January 2, 2008 in a 2-2 draw against CD Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey . After Frank Rijkaard's dismissal , Sánchez was appointed to the first team by Guardiola's new head coach. Sánchez played 12 games for the first team this season, but was also used in the reserve team.

In the 2009/10 season he played on loan at Deportivo Xerez . He also played on loan in the 2010/11 season, this time with the Spanish first division club Getafe . In July 2011 he was signed by Neuchâtel Xamax . His contract there already lost its validity in January 2012 after Xamax's license had been withdrawn and the club filed for bankruptcy a little later.

On January 31, 2012, the Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona announced the commitment of Víctor Sánchez. He followed his teammate Kalu Uche . He signed until mid-2015.
