Xabier "Xabi" Alonso Olano (born November 25, 1981 in Tolosa ) is a former Spanish soccer player and today's coach . Alonso comes from the youth of Real Sociedad San Sebastián and has played in his career at Liverpool , Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, among others . In addition to numerous championships in Germany and Spain, the Champions League victories in 2005 and 2014 are among his greatest successes at club level. Between 2003 and 2014 Alonso was also active in the Spanish national team . With her he became European champion in 2008 and 2012 and world champion in 2010 .
family
The Basque Xabi Alonso comes from a soccer family. His father Periko once played for FC Barcelona and won the Spanish championship with Real Sociedad in 1980/81 and 1981/82 . His older brother Mikel plays for the Spanish third division Real Unión Irún and his younger brother Jon is a referee.
Career as a player

Real Sociedad
Defensive midfielder Xabi Alonso began his career in Real Sociedad's youth department. He made his first-team debut on December 1, 1999 in a cup game. Within a turbulent year with three different coaches at Real Sociedad, Xabi was awarded to SD Eibar at the beginning of the 2000/01 season . He played 14 games for Eibar before John Toshack became Real Sociedad's new coach in January 2001, bringing him back to the team.
Alonso matured into a regular player and became a pillar of the team. With the team he reached second place in the championship at the end of the 2002/03 season, to which he contributed with 34 games and eight goals. The following year he advanced to the last sixteen of the Champions League with Real Sociedad .
Liverpool FC
Alonso then moved to Liverpool in August 2004 . With the English, he celebrated the greatest success of his club career in his first year, winning the Champions League . In the final against AC Milan , he scored the equalizer to 3: 3 and thus forced extra time. A year later he also won the FA Cup with Liverpool FC . At Liverpool FC, he also scored his most extraordinary goal of his career when he scored against Newcastle United from around 55 meters away.
real Madrid
He moved to Real Madrid in August 2009 . According to Spanish media reports, the transfer fee was around £ 30 million. He signed a four-year contract with the Madrilenians worth around 4.5 million euros a year. Alonso immediately developed into the team’s midfield strategist and won the Spanish Cup with Real Madrid in 2011 and his first national championship title in the 2011/12 season . In January 2014 he extended his contract with Los Blancos for another two years until June 2016. After another success in the Spanish Cup and winning the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League , Alonso said he needed new motivation and wanted to leave Real Madrid. This was the most difficult decision of his life.
FC Bayern Munich
On August 29, 2014, Alonso moved to Bayern Munich and signed a two-year contract. His shirt number was 3. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 30, 2014 in an away game against FC Schalke 04 . With 206 ball contacts in the game against 1. FC Köln , he set a new Bundesliga record on September 27, 2014, which Julian Weigl broke in May 2016 . Alonso scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 18, 2014 in a 6-0 home win against Werder Bremen . On February 17, 2015, Alonso played his 100th Champions League game. For the 2015/16 season he took over the shirt number 14, which he already wore at Real Madrid and Liverpool FC, from Claudio Pizarro , who left the club. On October 4, 2015, Alonso played his 50th competitive game for Bayern Munich in a 5-1 home win against Dortmund.
Alonso's contract with FC Bayern Munich ran until June 30, 2017. On March 9, 2017, he announced that he would end his career at the end of the contract period. In the last season of his career, he won his third German championship with Bayern . He played a total of 79 games in the Bundesliga for the club.
National team
Alonso played his first game for the senior national team at the age of 21 on April 30, 2003 in a 4-0 win over Ecuador . He participated with Spain in the 2004 European Championship , the 2006 World Cup , the 2008 European Championship , which the Spanish team won 1-0 in the final against Germany , and the 2012 European Championship , in which he won the title with the Spanish national team against Italy with 4 : 0 successfully defended, part. He achieved his greatest success on July 11, 2010 by winning the 2010 World Cup with a 1-0 win in the final against the Netherlands . Xabi Alonso has been married to his childhood sweetheart about two years older than him since July 2009; together they have a son and two daughters. In addition to Spanish , Basque and English, he also speaks German .
In March 2018, the Spanish public prosecutor's office demanded a five-year prison sentence for Xabi Alonso for tax fraud.
