Jordi Alba Ramos [ ˈʒɔɾði ˈaɫbə ] (born March 21, 1989 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat ) is a Spanish football player on the position of left back . Since 2012 he has been playing for FC Barcelona in the Spanish Primera División , the country's top division.

Career

Beginning

Born in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia , Alba began his active football career in the youth division of the Spanish top club FC Barcelona . After years in the youth there, the left-footer moved in 2005 to the youth department of UE Cornellà, who played in the fourth class . However, the talented young player did not last long in the offspring of the lower-class playing club and after just one season at UE Cornellà he came to the youth department of Valencia CF for a training allowance of 6000 euros . There he played in their junior team in the 2007/08 season and, at the same time, in the club's B team with play in the Tercera División , the fourth-highest soccer league in Spain. National team

For the Spanish youth national selection, Alba came for the first time for the U-19 national selection, for which he was used in a total of six international matches and scored one goal. He made his tournament debut on May 22, 2008 in the elite round of qualifying for the U-19 European Championship 2008 , where he played against his colleagues from the Ukraine; the Spaniards clearly won 3: 1.
