Nélson Cabral Semedo (born November 16, 1993 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese football player . He has been under contract with FC Barcelona since 2017 .
Career
societies
Nélson Semedo played from 15 to 18 years of age in the football department of the Sintra- based sports club Sport União Sintrense and made his debut in the 2011/12 season at the age of 17 in their first team. For the 2012/13 season he was signed by Benfica Lisbon and immediately loaned to third division CD Fátima for one season . There he became a regular player and completed 29 league encounters. After his return to Benfica Lisbon he was built up in the B-team as the successor to Maxi Pereira and played 59 second division games in two seasons . For the 2015/16 season he moved up to the first team, for which he made his debut on August 16, 2015 (1st match day) in a 4-0 win in the home game against GD Estoril Praia in the Primeira Liga and with the goal to the final score in the 89th minute also scored his first goal.
In July 2017 he signed a contract with FC Barcelona dated until 2021. The transfer fee was 30 million euros.
National team
On October 2, 2015, Semedo was appointed to the senior national team for the first time by national coach Fernando Santos for the European Championship qualifiers against Denmark and Serbia . On October 11, he made his debut in a 2-1 victory in the last group game against the selection of Serbia. He also played an international match for the Olympic team , which won 4-0 against Mexico's selection on March 28, 2016 in Angra do Heroísmo .
