Oriol Busquets Mas (born January 20, 1999 in Sant Feliu de Guíxols , Catalonia ) is a Spanish football player who is under contract with FC Barcelona . The midfielder has been a Spanish U21 international since September 2019 .

At the age of 8, Busquets went to FC Barcelona youth . At Blaugrana he played in various youth selections and was promoted to the reserve team in April. He made his debut for FC Barcelona B in a 2-0 home win against AE Prat on April 29, 2017, when he came on for Alberto Perea in the 73rd minute of the game . In this 2016/17 season, the reserve succeeded in winning promotion to the Segunda División with the championship title in the third highest Spanish division . In the 2017/18 season he became a regular at FC Barcelona B. On November 29, 2017, he played a first-team game for the first time in a 5-0 home win in the Copa del Rey against Real Murcia . In February 2018, he tore his meniscus and was therefore out of the season. By then he had played in 22 reserve games. So he could not prevent the direct relegation of his team. In the following season 2018/19 he returned to the starting line-up of what is now the third division club and was also given the captain's armband in November 2018. On December 1, 2018, he scored his first goal in a 2-2 draw against the reserves of Valencia CF. At the end of the season he had played 30 league games for the reserve. For the senior team, he was used again in the Copa del Rey.

On August 27, Oriol Busquets moved to the Dutch honorary division FC Twente Enschede in a one-year loan deal . There he quickly established himself as a regular on the defensive. In this 2019/20 season , he played 21 league games in which he prepared a goal.

For the season 2020/21 returned to FC Barcelona Busquets back. His contract there runs until June 30, 2021 and contains a release clause of 200 million euros.

National team

Oriol Busquets played in various junior selections in his home country, starting with the U16 . He has currently been the Spanish U21 international since September 2019 .
