Moussa Wagué (born October 4, 1998 in Bignona ) is a Senegalese football player . The full-back is currently on loan from FC Barcelona to OGC Nice . He also plays for the Senegalese national team .

Career

In her youth, Moussa Wagué was trained at the Qatari Aspire Academy , a sports academy for the greatest sports talents. In 2016 he moved to the youth team of the Belgian first division club KAS Eupen . During the 2016/17 season he made the leap into the squad of the first team, for which he made his debut in the 0-1 defeat by KRC Genk on January 21, 2017.

For the 2018/19 season Wagué moved to the second team of FC Barcelona , which played in the third-class Segunda División B , for 5 million euros . His release clause, mandatory in Spain, has been set at 100 million euros. After 17 appearances (two goals) in Segunda División B, Wagué made his debut on April 13, 2019 in a 0-0 draw against SD Huesca under Ernesto Valverde in the Primera División .

For the season 2019/20 Wague was taken firmly into the first team squad. After a league assignment, he moved to the French first division club OGC Nice on loan at the end of January 2020 until the end of the season . There was then a purchase option of 10 million euros, which could have increased by 500,000 euros through bonus payments. In this case, FC Barcelona had a buyback option of 15 million euros until June 30, 2021. Until the end of the season in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Wagué was used 5 times (2 times from the start) in Ligue 1.

National team

Wagué went through Senegal's U20 national team, with whom he finished fourth at the 2015 U-20 World Cup . He made his debut for the senior national team on March 23, 2017 in a friendly game in Nigeria , which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Wagué was included in Senegal 's squad for the 2018 World Cup . In the second group game, the 2-2 win against Japan, he scored his first international goal for a 2-1 lead. At the age of 19 years and 236 days, the talented full-back also became the youngest African scorer in a World Cup .
