The Segunda División 2008/09 (officially Liga Adelante ) was the 78th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on August 30, 2008 and ended on June 21, 2009 with the 42nd game day. The champions became the Deportivo Xerez .
Before the season
The 22 teams met twice on 42 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.
Relegated from La Liga took Real Zaragoza , Real Murcia and Levante in part. From the Segunda División B who came Alicante CF , FC Girona , SD Huesca and Rayo Vallecano .
