The Segunda División 1964/65 was the 34th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 13, 1964 and ended on April 18, 1965. Between June 6 and June 22, 1965, the relegation games were played. Masters were Pontevedra CF and RCD Mallorca .
Before the season
The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 16 teams each. The two group winners were promoted directly to the Primera División . The two runners-up played against the 13th and 14th of the Primera División for promotion.
The last two clubs in each group were relegated directly, while the teams in positions 13 and 14 fought relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División took Pontevedra CF and Real Valladolid in part. From the Tercera División came FC Barakaldo Altos Hornos , CD Calvo Sotelo , Real Unión Irún and CE Sabadell .
