Primera División 1955/56

The Segunda División 1955/56 was the 25th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 11, 1955 and ended on April 22, 1956. Between May 6 and June 27, 1956, the relegation games were played. Champions were CA Osasuna and Real Jaén .

Before the season

The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 16 teams each. The two group winners were promoted directly to the Primera División . The two second and third place winners played together with the 13th and 14th of the Primera División in the play-off round two other teams who played first class in the following season. The last two clubs from both groups played in relegation against relegation.

Relegated from La Liga took Real Santander and CD Málaga in part, from the Tercera División came Cádiz CF , SD Indautxu , CD Mestalla and AD Plus Ultra .
