history
The beginnings
The club was founded in 1906. In the early years the club was extremely successful in Catalonia and a rivalry with CE Sabadell developed . In 1917, the club played international games against the Swiss club FC Basel and many more. Terrassa was also able to win 2-1 and 1-0 against the big FC Barcelona . At that time, in the early 20s, Terrassa took part in many national cups that were of great importance due to the lack of an official Spanish championship. At the beginning of the 30s the club was financially weak and could never really do justice to its competition to the rivals FC Barcelona and Espanyol Barcelona .
1970s / 1980s
In the 1971/72 season, FC Terrassa rose in the playoffs against UD Almería in the Segunda División , as the Andalusians used an illegal player. Of the 7,000 members from the 1970s, just 924 remained from the beginning to the annual general meeting on July 14, 1983. The association now had debts of 16 million pesetas. In the following years, the Catalans developed more and more into an elevator team between the third division and the Liga Regional (fifth division).
The last few years
In the 90s, the club faced financial failure several times, but was saved at the last moment by companies and fans. In the 2001/2002 season Terrassa achieved promotion to the Segunda División with a new record of 6 wins in 6 games in the play-offs . This had to go back to the Segunda División B after three seasons in 2005 , where efforts were made to make the club financially balanced. Terrassa currently plays in the Tercera Division.
