Marc Bernaus Cano (born February 2, 1977 in Andorra la Vella ) is an Andorran - Spanish football player . The current Andorra international competed in Spanish club football for 15 years before retiring from the club in 2010. Bernaus is preferred as a left defender .
Career
society
Bernaus joined the Spanish world club FC Barcelona in 1994 at the age of 17 . There he first played in the junior division before being promoted to the second team after about a year . He made his first game in the Segunda División on May 27, 1995 in a game against Rayo Vallecano . He finally became a regular player during the 1996/97 season , when he was used 27 times. However, he could not really assert himself in Barcelona, and when a place in the club's first team was still not within reach for the now 22-year-old Bernau, he decided in 1999 to change clubs.
He went to the season 1999/2000 for CD Toledo , which he was second-rate. For the club, however, he ran a total of only nine times, so after a brief interlude at FC Terrassa , he changed club again in 2000. At Gimnàstic de Tarragona he played third class during his first season, but rose with the club in the 2001/02 season in the second division.
In the seasons 2002/03 and 2003/04 his employers with UD Las Palmas and Getafe FC were again second division clubs , which the Andorran left after one year. It was only at FC Elche , which he joined in 2004, that he found a sporting home again, to which he remained loyal for more than two years. For three years, Bernaus accompanied the club as a regular player. At the age of 30 he went to Club Polideportivo Ejido in the summer of 2007 , where he played again for a year. His last position was from 2008 at Girona FC . In 2010 he ended his club career at the age of 33. In total, he was on the field in 275 second and 23 third division games in Spain. He scored two goals, both of which he scored during his time at FC Barcelona B.
National team
While Bernau played a few games for various Spanish junior teams in his youth, he decided to play in the senior category for his actual home country Andorra. He made his debut in the Andorran national team on November 15, 2000 in the World Cup qualifier against Cyprus . He scored his only international goal in the 1-0 win of his team against Macedonia and was thus significantly involved in the first competitive win of the Andorran national football team.
