The Segunda División 1999/2000 was the 69th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on August 21, 1999 and ended on June 4, 2000 with the 42nd game day. Master became UD Las Palmas .

Before the season

The 22 teams met twice on 42 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.

Relegated from the Primera División of took CF Extremadura , Villarreal , CD Tenerife and UD Salamanca in part. From the Segunda División B came FC Elche , FC Getafe , UD Levante and FC Córdoba .

1 CP Mérida broke up at the end of the season due to financial problems. The club's amateur team continued playing under the name UD Mérida in the Tercera División .
2Because of the relegation of Atlético Madrid from the Primera División in the same year, the club's second team had to be relegated.
3 CD Logroñés was transferred back to the Tercera División because of unpaid player salaries at the end of the season .
