The Segunda División 1995/96 was the 65th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 2, 1995 and ended on May 19, 1996. Between May 29 and June 2, 1996, the play-off games were played. Master was Hércules Alicante .
Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The two best teams went straight to the Primera División . The third and fourth placed played against the 19th and 20th of the Primera División for promotion. The last four clubs were relegated.
Relegated from the Primera División took CD Logroñés part. From the Segunda División B came Sestao SC , UD Almería , Deportivo Alavés and Écija Balompié .
