The Segunda División 1991/92 was the 61st season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on August 31, 1991 and ended on May 24, 1992. Between June 10 and June 21, 1992, the play-off games were played. Master became Celta Vigo .

Before the season

The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The two best teams went straight to the Primera División . The third and fourth placed played against the 17th and 18th of the Primera División for promotion. The last four clubs were relegated.

As relegated from the Primera División , CD Castellón and Betis Sevilla took part. From the Segunda División B arrived SD Compostela , CP Mérida , Racing Santander , Real Madrid B and FC Barcelona B .

    1 Real Murcia was transferred to the third class Segunda División B because the conversion into a sports corporation was not completed. Sestao SC was spared relegation.
