The Club Atlético Marbella was a Spanish football club based in the Andalusian city of Marbella . The club, founded in 1947, played in the Segunda División in the 1990s , but was dissolved in 1997.

history

CA Marbella was founded in 1947 and spent the first few years of the club's history continuously in the regional leagues of the Spanish league system. In 1963 the club rose to the Tercera División for the first time . Lack of constant achievements of the club after between Regional, Tercera División and commuted Segunda División B . With the beginning of the 1990/91 season, the club managed to march through from fourth to second division, whereupon they played in the Segunda División for the first time in the 1992/93 season . In 1995 the association was bought by the Mayor of Marbella and President of Atlético Madrid , Jesús Gil . Only a short time later it was sold to the Serbian businessman Slobodan Petrović. At this point the club was already struggling with major financial problems. When the club was relegated in the 1995/96 season after four years from the second division and the following year even crashed into the fourth-class Tercera Division, it was dissolved due to the accumulated debts.

After the dissolution, UD Marbella was founded in 1997 as the successor association.

Stadion

CA Marbella last played at the Estadio Municipal de Marbella , which has a capacity of 7,300 spectators. The stadium opened in 1975. The playing field measures 102 × 65 meters.
