Primera División 2011/12

The Segunda División 2011/12 (officially Liga Adelante ) was the 81st season of the second highest Spanish football league . The start of the season was originally scheduled for August 20, 2011, but had to be postponed to August 26, 2011 due to a players' strike. The schedule could still be kept and the season ended on June 17, 2012 with the final of the play-offs. Champion was Deportivo La Coruña .

Before the season

The 22 teams met twice on 42 match days. The two best teams went straight to the Primera División . The teams in places three to six determined the third promoted team in the play-offs. Reserve teams were not eligible for promotion. The last four clubs were relegated.

Relegated from the Primera División took Deportivo La Coruna , Hércules CF and UD Almería in part. Moved up from the Segunda División B were Real Murcia , CE Sabadell , CD Guadalajara and CD Alcoyano .
