The Segunda División 1960/61 was the 30th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 11, 1960 and ended on April 16, 1961. Between May 4 and June 25, 1961, the relegation games were played. Champions were CA Osasuna and CD Tenerife .
Before the season
The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 16 teams each. The two group winners were promoted directly to the Primera División . The two runners-up played against the 13th and 14th of the Primera División for promotion.
The last two clubs in each group were relegated directly, while the teams in positions 13 and 14 fought relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División took CA Osasuna and UD Las Palmas in part. From the Tercera División came CD Castellón , Hércules CF , CD Málaga , Pontevedra CF , UD Salamanca and Real Sociedad B .
