Pontevedra Club de Fútbol is a Spanish football club from the Galician city of Pontevedra . The club currently plays in Segunda División B (Group 1).
history
Pontevedra CF was founded in 1941 by the merger of the most important clubs in the city, Eiriña and Alfonso CF launched. The first promotion to the Primera División came in 1963. Between 1963 and 1970 they played a total of six seasons in the Primera División and in 1965/66 they achieved the best result in the club's history, the seventh final rank.
On January 23, 2006, the club, as one of the last in Spanish professional football, converted into a sports stock corporation. This means that only Real Madrid , FC Barcelona , Athletic Bilbao and CA Osasuna are currently organized as traditional clubs.
