The Unión Popular de Langreo is a Spanish football club from the Asturian city of Langreo . The club, founded in 1961, plays in Segunda División B , Group 2 for the 2018/19 season .
history
UP Langreo was created in 1961 through the merger of the two clubs Racing Club de Sama and Círculo Popular de La Felguera . After the first season, the newly founded club managed to qualify for the first time for the Segunda División , Spain's 2nd division. As early as 1967/68 the club had to relegate to the Tercera División, which at that time was still third class. After two years, they returned to League 2 in 1970, where they stayed for only two more years.
The UP Langreo never managed to gain a foothold in Spanish professional football, since relegation in 1972 the club played exclusively in the Segunda División B and the Tercera División . They last played in 2014/15 in Segunda División B, from which they were relegated after just one year.
Stadion
UP Langreo plays in the Estadio Ganzábal , which has a capacity of 4,000 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 2006 after a new building and is owned by the city.
