Athletic Club Bilbao B is Athletic Bilbao's second team . Bilbao Athletic B has played in Segunda Division B since the 2015/16 season .
In Spanish football, the participation of second teams in the Segunda División is allowed. However, Bilbao Athletic B is not allowed to participate in the Copa del Rey . Players under the age of 23 and professionals under the age of 25 are allowed to play for the club.
history
The team was brought back to life in 1964 after a team called Bilbao Athletic had already existed during World War II .
In 1969 they rose to the Segunda División for the first time, but the team only stayed in the second division for a year. After being in fourth class in the meantime, one rose again in 1983 to the Segunda División. In the re-promotion season you would even have been promoted to the Primera División , but second teams are not allowed to move up to the first division. In 1988 they were relegated for a year before relegating in 1996 for a longer period of time. In 2015 they achieved promotion after good performances in previous seasons, after defeating FC Cádiz in the promotion playoff. Currently she plays mediocre in the second group of the Segunda División B .
