The Unión Deportiva Logroñés is a Spanish football club from Logroño in the autonomous community of La Rioja . The club was founded in 2009 and plays its home games in the Estadio Las Gaunas , which offers space for 16,000 spectators.
history
The association was founded on June 24, 2009. By taking over and relocating the CD Varea to Logroño, you got the starting place in the Segunda División B in the 2009/10 season, which the CD Varea had earned in the previous season as champion of the Tercera División , as well as the qualification place for the Copa del Rey 2009/10 . The CD Varea was re-established in the same year. The UD Logroñés was able to finish their first season in the Segunda División B - Group 3 in ninth place and qualified as one of the "best points" for the Copa del Rey 2010/11 , benefiting from the fact that B-teams are excluded from this competition. In the round of 32 they failed because of the first division club FC Valencia .

The at the same time founded second team of UD Logroñés played the first season in the highest regional league of La Rioja, the Regional Preferente de La Rioja . By reaching third place in the table, the team rose to the Tercera División. This season they played in the same league as the newly founded CD Varea, which was second in the table. As a result, they rose together in Group 16 of the fourth division.
Stadion
The Estadio Las Gaunas was opened in 2002 after five years of construction and offers space for 16,000 spectators. On October 16, 2002, the Spanish national soccer team played a friendly against Paraguay in Las Gaunas .
