Johann Michael Heinze (born March 21, 1717 in Langensalza ; † October 6, 1790 in Weimar ) was a German teacher and headmaster.

Life

Johann Michael Heinze, who was also a member of the German Society of Göttingen , became vice rector of the Michaelis School in Lüneburg in 1749 and its rector in 1753. In 1770 he was appointed rector of the Wilhelminum Ernestinum in Weimar and retained this position until the end of his professional life. In both places of activity he wrote numerous educational publications. However, his translations of Cicero's , Seneca's and Demosthenes ' works gained importance in his time . His Latin Chrestomathia poetica found favor with Johann Matthias Gesner and experienced three editions from 1755 to 1787.

Friedrich Adolf von Heinze was his son.
