Aitor Larrazábal Bilbao (born June 2, 1971 in Bilbao , Biscay ) is a former Spanish football player who was active for Athletic Bilbao throughout his career . Larrazábal was a left-back with excellent offensive skills, also known as a penalty specialist. He has scored at least 1 goal in 13 out of 14 professional seasons.

Larrazábal went through all youth teams of the traditional Basque club Athletic Bilbao from the age of eleven, until he rose to the second team (Bilbao Athletic) in 1989 and made his debut in the Spanish second division. He made his debut in the first division on September 2, 1990 in a 0-1 against CD Tenerife . He then developed into an absolute regular in the team in the 1990s and became indispensable for all coaches in Bilbao. The season 97-98 finished Bilbao as runners-up and they could qualify for the first time for the UEFA Champions League . Larrazábal played a strong season and marked his career record with 7 goals, as well as he scored in both CL group games against Juventus Turin .

From the 2002/03 season, the young Asier del Horno pushed more and more into the team and Larrazábal took more and more places on the bench. In May 2004 he ended his active career, during which he always played for Bilbao and scored 39 goals in 390 games.

He never made it into the Spanish national soccer team , here was the competition, v. a. too big with Sergi Barjuán .
